Professionalism
Thank you note
Dear Mrs. Martin,
It was a pleasure to meet with you yesterday. I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to talk about the company and answer my questions. I enjoyed learning about C.G.A ’s company values, vision for the future, and also learning about the numerous opportunities there for employees. After speaking with you, it gave me a new perspective on what I would like to do. I would love to be a part of this company and I believe I could help reach the goals envisioned. I wish you the best and hope to hear from you soon.
Best Regards,

Going to the career fair
Going into the career fair I was anxious and I expected there to be a lot of people. I also did not expect a job offer since most companies want upperclassmen with more experience.Once going inside, there were even more companies there then I thought, and most people seemed nice. Mostly everyone looked very professional and you could tell who came in prepared and ready to interact in hopes of a job offer.
I spoke with a representative from The Limited brands. I told them I was an International Business major. I asked them what they look for in a student and the goals for their company. It was informational and a good way to learn more about the company.
I will approach the fair differently next time by being more prepared. After my experience of observing this fair, I won’t be as intimidated and will have more confidence approaching the bigger companies with long lines. I will definitely spend more time at the fair since it is a great opportunity, to get a potential co-op. I will go in before-hand knowing which companies I would like to talk to. With hopes of a potential job offer I will speak to multiple companies next time and have resumes ready to hand out.
I observed two different types of people among peers: those who were prepared such as upperclassmen and those who did not seem prepared/just were there because they had to be. I saw many upperclassmen that were very professional, prepared, and confident from how they looked and also their body language. On the other hand, I saw other freshman who seemed nervous and also those who were mostly observing (like myself). Based on how many people I saw at the fair it was also a reminder that I have to stand out to companies since I’m competing for jobs with my peers. It was a good learning experience and motivating to see all the professionals there.
